Maverick Aviation Group announced Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, it had opened a new terminal at Henderson Executive Airport that would become a base for the company's air tour operations.

Maverick Aviation Group has opened a new terminal at Henderson Executive Airport that will become its primary base for the company's air tour operations. Company officials say that, depending on the season, they would expect 20 to 40 fixed-wing and helicopter flights daily.

The new 37,000-square-foot facility, at 1620 Jet Stream Drive, will house a departure and arrivals lobby for tours to the Grand Canyon, a café and gift shop as well as the company's corporate offices, meeting rooms and a hangar. The lobby will have high-definition televisions showing the Grand Canyon while displaying information and trivia about the Arizona landmark.

The new facility will accommodate company growth, and Maverick will continue to keep facilities on the west side of McCarran International Airport.

"We have amazing customers who deserve the best and great employees who are dedicated to providing our customers with a world-class experience," said John Buch, president of Maverick Aviation Group in a release announcing the new location. "This modern building is a tribute to both."

Maverick is the parent company of Maverick Helicopters, Mustang Helicopters and Maverick Airlines and has the largest fleet of ECO-Star helicopters in the world. The local operation offers helicopter tours of the Las Vegas Strip and to Grand Canyon West.

The company's Grand Canyon location offers tours over the south rim of the canyon. It also operates 19-passenger, twin-engine Beechcraft 1900D aircraft for direct flights to both Grand Canyon's Tusayan airport and Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Indian Reservation from Henderson Executive Airport. The company also flies charters.

Based on McCarran statistics and Federal Aviation Administration estimates, Maverick carried 233,065 passengers from McCarran and 97,272 from Henderson making it the largest air tour operator at those airports.

The Scenic Airlines group, Southern Nevada's largest air tour operator with Scenic Airlines, Grand Canyon Airlines and Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, operates from Boulder City Municipal Airport.
