SafeNest, a nonprofit organization devoted to ending domestic and sexual violence, named Latoya Rogers vice president of marketing and development. Rogers brings over a decade of strategic marketing experience across the tech, financial, and retail sectors.

StartUpNV used its affiliated venture funds, including FundNV and AngelNV, to invest nearly $4.5 million in 22 businesses in 2023. Anticipating greater investment interest, StartUpNV plans to start investing from two new funds, FundNV 2 and Fund 1864, this year. FundNV 2 is a continuation of the original pre-seed FundNV, and Fund 1864 is a $10 million seed fund making much larger investments in more mature startups.

UNLV Health, the clinical arm of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, is expanding by opening a third Gynecology & Obstetrics Clinic at 700 Shadow Lane, Suite 165. Physicians and staff will offer an array of gynecological and obstetric services, including high-risk pregnancy, preventative, special, and surgical care.

Clique Hospitality has welcomed the arrival of three new concepts at the Durango Casino & Resort, which include Bel-Aire Lounge, Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant and Wax Rabbit, a speakeasy hidden inside Mijo.

Three winners were selected in The Big Idea Challenge: An Education Innovation Contest, which centered on the question, “Who out there has an idea that can help take Nevada’s educational landscape to the next level?” Winners include: Shardae Chenoweth and Dr. Biante’ Gainous, Las Vegas educators, who received $200,000 to grow their Financially Lit platform, an experiential learning opportunity for students to exist within a microeconomy where scholar dollars are the currency; Rhea Watson with Las Vegas-based Scholarship Solutions, who received $150,000 for her “A Scholarship A Day” app ghat will give students access to college and scholarship information and opportunities; and Natalie Adame, Robele Abdi and Nefeli Georgilas, who received $150,000 for their SchoolM8 Educational Management web app, which will help students streamline their educational journey in one centralized website.

Nikki Etherington has been named Las Vegas managing partner for Deloitte LLP. Deloitte’s Las Vegas practice employs more than 300 professionals delivering audit and assurance, consulting, tax, and risk and financial advisory services. Etherington will drive the Las Vegas market’s strategy for growth, business development, social impact and other strategic initiatives. Etherington will also continue to serve select clients.
