The Tropicana opened a locals-only parking lot today.

The Strip resort recently launched a rewards program stacked with locals-only deals, including 20 percent cash return on all losses — and the dedicated locals lot just off Tropicana Avenue.

Visitors who plan to use the lot must be Clark County residents and have a Trop Plus Players Card, according to Armen Yemenidjian, vice president of casino operations and marketing.

Yemenidijan said the locals-only parking is a first of its kind in Las Vegas. Station Casinos, the biggest locals casino operator in the city, does not offer specific parking for Clark County residents.

Tropicana officials say the offer budded from a series of focus groups and surveys targeting what locals look for when they visit the Strip. The most popular responses ran the gamut, including quality food, monthly free play offers — and easy access.

That’s when the resort decided to roll out the parking lot with its latest players package.

“The local needs and deserves more than an offer,” Yemenidijan said.
