Nevada gamblers who want to buy California lottery tickets in Primm have been known to wait hours in line for a ticket.

Those long lines may soon be a thing of the past.

The Primm Valley Lotto Store, which is 40 miles southwest of Las Vegas and just over the California border, recently added four service windows and two self-service ticket machines to expedite service. The store made the updates in anticipation of a slew of lottery-loving Nevadans storming the store April 8, when Powerball tickets go on sale.

“We chose to make improvements to update the facility in order to increase efficiency when serving our customers,” said Loren Gill, executive vice president and general manager of Primm Valley Casino Resorts.

The California Lottery Commission last year voted to adopt Powerball play. The news was a relief to many Nevadans, who up until now had to drive hours and cross borders to buy the $2 tickets.

Nevada is one of five states that prohibits lotteries.

The Powerball jackpot starts at $40 million.

The Lotto Store is open from 8 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. daily. The first Powerball drawing is April 10.
