A Southwestern law firm with offices in Las Vegas is merging with a smaller, 110-year-old firm based in Denver.
Phoenix-based Lewis and Roca LLP, which has five satellite offices and about 180 lawyers, said this week it will join forces with Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP, which has two satellite offices and 70 attorneys.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merger is expected to be completed Sept. 1, and the combined firm will be called Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP.
Lewis and Roca managing partner Kenneth Van Winkle will hold the same post with the combined group.
“Our clients have been expanding in the Southwest region for some time and encouraged us to find an opportunity to establish a presence there,” Rothgerber Chairman Frederick Baumann said in a prepared statement. “With Lewis and Roca, we are partnering with a firm with an equally strong reputation in its practices and markets.”
Founded in 1950, Lewis and Roca opened a Las Vegas office in 1999 and now has 44 attorneys locally. It also has offices in Reno; Tucson, Ariz.; Albuquerque, N.M.; and Mountain View, Calif. Its practice areas include energy, real estate, bankruptcy litigation and personal injury.
Rothgerber, founded in downtown Denver in 1903, has outposts in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Casper, Wyo. Its practice areas include campaign finance, international business, and labor and employment.
