The D imports new steakhouse from Detroit

Continuing to play off its Detroit theme, the D casino in downtown Las Vegas has added another Michigan mainstay to its dining menu. Joe Vicari's Andiamo Italian Steakhouse, with nine locations in the greater Detroit area, opens its Las Vegas restaurant Feb. 1. A menu will feature baseball sized meatballs and veal ragu, along with more than 80 wines. Meats will come from natural suppliers including Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors in New Jersey and Strauss American Lamb and Veal of Milwaukee, along with free-range chicken. So this is taking the place of Don't steakhouse, the last connection to Fitzgeralds and the first black casino owner in Las Vegas, Don Barden?
I am curious to know why Mr. Stevens feels the Detroit area sends lots of tourists our way. Detroit has NEVER been a major market for Las Vegas in the past 25 years. They turned the lights out in Detroit.
@serious I pondered the same thing, but it's not the Detroit market he's importing it's the brand recognition, reputation and proven business model of it's top venues. A smart move considering that he could open his own steakhouse and run it himself or import a more recognized brand that knows how to run a restaurant. No need to reinvent the wheel and start from square one. It's all about ROI with any business, but more so with casinos and a proven brand has the numbers to back up how long the ROI will take.
