Wet 'n' Wild Construction

Construction workers began piecing together the first fiberglass slides Wednesday for the Wet ‘n’ Wild water park under construction in southwest Las Vegas.

Slides for the four-story Canyon Cliffs attraction were being assembled on a lot adjacent to the park at Fort Apache and Warm Springs roads near Wilbur and Theresa Faiss Middle School. In the next few days, the slide will be mounted on a tower.

On the Canyon Cliffs attraction, riders are loaded into launch capsules that are dropped in a vertical free fall and reach speeds of 33 feet per second.

The water park is scheduled to open on the Memorial Day weekend. The company already has received more than 8,600 applications for seasonal jobs at the park.
