Luxury retailer Saks Inc. plans to open an outlet store in downtown Las Vegas in 2015, a mall owner announced Monday.

Simon Property Group Inc., the Indianapolis-based owner of Las Vegas Premium Outlets – North, said Saks would open a Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH store there three years from now.

Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, according to Saks, strives to be "the premier luxury off-price retailer in the United States."

The stores are typically located in upscale mixed-use and off-price centers and offer luxury apparel, shoes and accessories ''targeting the value-conscious customer,'' New York City-based Saks says.

The Las Vegas deal announced Monday is part of a package in which Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH will open stores at seven Simon outlet malls around the country during the next three years.

Saks Fifth Avenue already has an anchor department store at Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip; and a Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH at the Las Vegas Outlet Center Annex, 7680 Las Vegas Blvd. South at Robindale Road.

A Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH spokeswoman said the company had no immediate comment on whether the Las Vegas Outlet Center Annex store would be affected by development of the downtown Las Vegas store.

''We continue to be pleased with the performance of our Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores in the Simon portfolio, and are excited to have so many strong locations for us to grow with. These locations will enable us to continue to deliver our distinct merchandise offerings to area residents and visitors," Robert Wallstrom, president of Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, said in a statement about the seven-store deal.
