Two independent gaming test labs approved by the state

Two independent gaming equipment testing laboratories have been registered by the state Gaming Control Board.

Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli said Thursday that Gaming Laboratories International LLC and BMM International LLC are the first companies to be designated to test casino games and systems under legislation signed last year by Gov. Brian Sandoval.

The Nevada Gaming Commission adopted regulations for independent test labs last month, and GLI and BMM were among the first to announce plans to register and expand their presence in the state.

The two companies were investigated by the Control Board, and regulations direct them to establish uniform protocols and procedures.

For years, the state operated its own testing lab for all gaming devices, equipment and systems. With the rapid expansion of technology, state officials opted to register and license independent labs to keep ahead of the pace.

“The registration of independent test labs ensures Nevada’s longer-term competitive standing in the gaming industry,” Lipparelli said.

In a separate matter, the Control Board debuted its new website Thursday.

The site offers a more user-friendly, better organized format for both the state Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission.

“It was built with the long term in mind,” Lipparelli said.

The site took six months to complete and includes board meeting agendas and dispositions, the state’s gaming statutes and regulations, information about Nevada licensees, employee registration information, tax forms and industry statistics. It also has information on the Control Board’s six divisions and job opportunities at the board’s five locations statewide.
