Mexican dining establishment to replace Union Restaurant & Lounge at Aria

Javier's, a restaurant chain in Southern California and Los Cabos, Mexico, is opening a restaurant at the Aria resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

Aria at CityCenter said Monday that Javier's would open by late summer off the casino floor in the space formerly occupied by the Light Group's Union Restaurant & Lounge, which closed recently.

Union was part of Aria's original restaurant lineup when CityCenter opened in December 2009.

Aria said Javier's offers "regionally influenced Mexican cooking," premium tequila and hand-shaken margaritas. Javier's at Aria will be designed by noted restaurant and resort designer Dodd Mitchell, Aria said.

“We are all very excited and honored to be working with (Aria President) Bill McBeath at Aria. We’re looking forward to opening in the centerpiece of Las Vegas’ CityCenter and joining the amazing culinary team at Aria,” Javier's owners Javier Sosa and Mark Post said in a statement.

Javier's already has locations in the California cities of Newport Beach and Irvine, where it boasts Orange County's largest selection of premium tequilas. Its outlet in Mexico is at Cabo Azul Resort & Spa.
