Dos Caminos Mexican restaurant will return to Las Vegas

A little more than year after it abruptly closed its Strip location, a high-end, high-style Mexican restaurant has announced its return to Las Vegas.

Dos Caminos will open a new location in early 2013 in Summerlin’s Canyon Pointe Plaza, according to Dos Caminos’ website.

Corporate executive chef Ivy Stark, author of "Dos Caminos Mexican Street Food," will oversee the menu for Las Vegas, as she does with the four locations in New York City and the outposts in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Reed Osterholt will be Las Vegas executive chef.

The Dos Caminos menu "builds on classic Mexican staples of guacamole, empanadas and tacos, along with signature dishes, while the cocktail menu is transported 'south of the border' with imaginative margaritas and sangria as well as an expansive hand-selected tequila menu," according to a news release from the restaurant.

Dos Caminos Las Vegas, owned by New York-based B.R. Guest, was open from February 2008 to November 2011 at the Palazzo. A disagreement between Two Roads Las Vegas, which operated Dos Caminos, and the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which owns the Palazzo, ended with the Sands winning a Nevada Supreme Court judgment upholding its right to evict Two Roads.

Dos Caminos is expected to open in March at 10820 W. Charleston Blvd., the site of the former Agave Las Vegas.

B.R. Guest also owns two other Las Vegas restaurants, Fiamma Trattoria at the MGM Grand and Strip House Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood.
