The Tropicana Las Vegas has a new president and chief operating officer.
Daniel M. Wade took over operations of the casino resort this week.
"I have personally worked with Danny for many years, and I have witnessed his extraordinary leadership first hand," Tropicana Chairman and CEO Alex Yemenidjian said in a statement. "He will truly be an outstanding addition to our team as we embark on the second phase of our transformation program."
Since the Tropicana emerged from bankruptcy in July 2009, owners have spent a significant amount of time and money upgrading the historic resort. A $180-million face lift included renovations to the casino floor, restaurants, entertainment areas, convention center, pool, sports book and hotel rooms.
Wade is a 37-year veteran of the gaming industry. He held several leadership positions at MGM Grand, most recently president, and worked as an executive at the Desert Inn and Harrah's in Reno and Atlantic City. He also led the design and development effort for the Plaza Hotel Las Vegas proposed for the site of the former Frontier Hotel and Casino.

I was fortunate enough to work with Dan Wade, Alex Yemendijian and the late Terry Lanni and can honestly say that the Trop is in great hands. Dan understands the business as a manager and understands/appreciates the employee as a coworker and as someone who has been in the front line employee's shoes.
