There’s a new dice game rolling out in Las Vegas that’s a mix between craps and roulette.

Scossa (pronounced “SKOH-suh”) challenges players to correctly predict the outcome on a roll of a pair of dice. The Nevada Gaming Commission approved the game earlier this year, and it went through a recent trial run at Red Rock Casino.

Scossa means “toss” in Italian. Players place chips on one or more of seven betting options — straight numbers, hard ways, ranges and bonus bets — then wait for the dice fall. Like roulette, wagers are resolved after every roll.

The game is played on an 8-foot craps-style table with a maximum of eight people. It’s intended for players who are new to table games and intimidated by craps, creators at Dallas-based gaming company Brill Entertainment said.

Brill will have Scossa tables on display next week at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.
