Las Vegas Hilton lender seeks receiver to run property

Financial pressure mounted Wednesday for the Las Vegas Hilton when its lender asked a Nevada court to appoint a receiver to run the property – possibly until it’s sold or foreclosed on.

A lawsuit was filed in Clark County District Court against the Hilton by Goldman Sachs Mortgage Co.

"Plaintiff seeks relief because defendant has breached its obligations under the loan documents by, among other things, failing to pay plaintiff what is owed under those loan documents," the lawsuit charges. "Defendant borrowed more than $252 million, but is not paying it back."

Goldman Sachs Mortgage seeks to have Ronald P. Johnson, its operating officer, appointed as receiver.

The Hilton hasn’t yet responded in court to the petition. An Oct. 21 hearing is planned on the request for appointment of a receiver.

Goldman Sachs Mortgage earlier this month filed a foreclosure notice against the 2,950-room property after the Hilton defaulted on its debt amid continuing losses during the recession.
