Dream Vision Studios, 4544 West Russell Road, has tripled the size of its studio with the addition of two stages. The production and events studio grew by 35,000 square feet through the expansion project, giving the operation a total of 51,000 square feet of production and event space. The company is owned and operated by Phyllis Carreon-Taie and Shawn D Lane. The addition was part of Dream Vision’s long-range goal to create the first full-service studio lot in Las Vegas.

Accessible Space, Inc., was host of a grand opening event for the Coronado Drive Apartments in Henderson on Oct. 13. The apartments are an affordable, wheelchair accessible, service-enriched, senior and special needs apartment community for persons aged 55 and older. The apartment complex is the 15th affordable housing community in Nevada to be developed by ASI, a Minnesota-based nonprofit housing and supportige services provider.

The U.S. Treasury’s Small Business Lending Fund Program has awarded an $8.5 million grant to Meadows Bank, a full-service community bank with headquarters in Las Vegas. The grant comes from the Small Business Lending Fund, which was enacted into law as part of the 2010 Jobs Act, and which is designed to encourage lending to small businesses by providing capital to qualified community banks with assets of less than $10 billion.

A groundbreaking was held Oct. 10 for the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a 35,000 square-foot building at the intersection of Eighth Street and Charleston. Boyd Gaming Chairman Bill Boyd and former UNLV law school dean Dick Morgan served as co-chairs for the $13 million capital campaign.

The annual United Way of Southern Nevada campaign got under way with an Oct. 13 celebration at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. United Way provides funding to more than 70 local non-profit, service and charitable organizations. Don Gibe, a vice president of Citibank, is the 2010-11 volunteer board chairman of the campaign, which raised more than $12 million last year.

Galaxy Gaming Inc. announced that the Nevada Gaming Control Board granted approval of the compay’s new casino table game bonusing system, called MEGA-Share. The system allows casinos to electronically link their gaming tables and form a community jackpot that grows with each player’s wager. Unlike progressive jackpots, MEGA-Share allows casinos to link different games with distinct winning triggering events.

The Building Owners and Managers Assn. of Nevada will honor achievements in commercial buildings at its annual Outstanding Building of the Year Awards luncheon Oct. 25 at the Four Seasons Hotel. UNLV President Neal Smatresk will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, which begins at 11:30. Individual tickets are $75 in advance, and more information is available through BOMA.
