It’s not often that Nevada taxpayers might be glad to know the Internal Revenue Service is trying to track them down, but that’s the case for hundreds of them today.
The IRS announced today that it is attempting to return undelivered refunds to 1,501 taxpayers in Nevada. The refunds were returned to the IRS due to mailing address errors, government officials said in a news release.
The Nevada taxpayers who didn’t receive their checks, including 1,238 in Clark County, are owed a total of $2.7 million. Nationwide, 99,123 taxpayers are due refund checks, with an average refund of $1,547.
Taxpayers can find out if they’re owed an overdue refund by accessing the "Where’s My Refund?" tool on IRS.gov. A telephone version of the service is available at 800-829-1954.
