Gary Loveman, CEO of Caesars Entertainment
Gary Loveman, CEO and president of Caesars Entertainment, was named Hotelier of the Year-Southern Nevada by the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association, the highest honor bestowed by the organization. Loveman was cited for leading the company through challenging economic times by fostering such initiatives as the Total Rewards program, which boasts more than 40 million patrons. In related news, properties in Caesars’ Northern Nevada region received the hotel and lodging organization’s Star of Industry and Sustainability award. In addition, Caesars honorees included Lucy Loh, from the Rio, as Casino Employee of the Year, Jadwiga Maruszewska, from the Flamingo Las Vegas, as Housekeeping Employee of the Year, and Edward Eugene Hollis, from Bally’s, as Food and Beverage Employee of the Year.

Alja Halleran, training manager for the Signature at MGM Grand, has earned the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential from the American Society for Training & Development Certification Institute.

Lindsey Young is store manager for maurices national specialty store’s location at 7235 Arroyo Crossing Parkway. Young is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store, including sales performance, visual presentation, and personnel recruitment and training.

Bo Bernhard
Bo Bernhard is executive director of the International Gaming Institute at UNLV’s Harrah College of Hotel Administration. IGI is a nonprofit academic center that offers research and educational programs for the global gaming industry.

Two development officers for the Smith Center for the Performing Arts have assumed new roles. Tessie Poggione is director of major gifts, a position in which she will work with donors and oversee all donations. Lara Kolberg is director of education gifts and grants, and will focus on grant writing and donation development to support education and outreach programs.

Vanessa Maniago is vice president of branding and marketing for United Way of Southern Nevada. She previously was vice president of strategic development at R&R Partners.

The Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus honored Alan Dershowitz at its annual scholarship gala Nov. 13. Dershowitz, a Harvard Law School professor and author of 29 books, was awarded the Pursuit of Excellence Award for his long-standing defense of civil and individual rights. Money raised at the event will benefit the scholarship program at the school.

Holly Silvestri was honored as the 2011 PR Practitioner of the Year at the Public Relations Society of America, Las Vegas Chapter’s Pinnacle Awards event. Silvestri is a principal of the Ferraro Group.

Annette Levin is the 2012 president of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Steve Blash is executive vice president. Other vice presidents include: Judy Teske, public relations; J.B. Batiste, finance; Laura Vallenari, communication; Greta Blash, programs; Jackie White, membership; and Bonnie Cook, education.

Valley Health Systems recently announced new appointments. Allyson Hoover is director of business development, David Woodard is director of infection control and Alan Woratschek is director of information services for the organization, which is comprised of Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center and Valley Hospital Medical Center.
