Wynn, Patriots’ owner to discuss casino project

Casino owner Steve Wynn reportedly will meet Sunday with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft to discuss the possibility of Wynn building a gaming resort across from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick recently signed into law a measure authorizing the operation of three full-scale casinos and one slot parlor in his state after years of intense lobbying by Nevada casino interests, among others.

NFL rules prohibit team owners from operating casinos. The Globe previously reported that Kraft had not reached agreement to lease the adjacent property to casino developers.

Sheldon Adelson and Caesars Entertainment are also believed to be among Nevada gaming companies seeking to develop Massachusetts casinos.

Adelson and Wynn are eyeing similar opportunities in Miami, where state lawmakers are considering proprosals that would license multiple Las Vegas-style casinos in South Florida.

The NFL’s Miami Dolphins have considered leasing land near their stadium to casino developers, The Miami Herald has reported.
