Even an 11-time AAA Five Diamond winner needs some sprucing up from time to time.

The Bellagio recently finished the first phase of a $70 million room upgrade, releasing 500 renovated rooms for guest reservations. By December, the hotel plans to have fully renovated the more than 2,500 guest rooms in its main tower.

Designed by the MGM Resorts International Design Group, the new rooms feature three different color palates — indigo and silver, plum and tea green or butterscotch and amber.

The rooms are listed as deluxe resort rooms on the Bellagio website and are $20 to $30 more than rooms in the main tower that have not yet been renovated. Rates for a stay during August and September in the new rooms start at $209.

The guest rooms in the Bellagio’s main tower have not been renovated since 2004. The spa tower and the hotel’s suites, which were renovated in 2007, are not part of the $70 million upgrade.

The Bellagio renovations follow several other Las Vegas hotels that have undergone major guest room overhauls in the last year, including the Tropicana, Wynn Las Vegas, Stratosphere and the Plaza, which is set to reopen in next month after a $35 million renovation.
