The PENTA Building Group Hosts Annual Safety Kick-Off Meeting

LAS VEGAS (January 30, 2013) – The PENTA Building Group hosted its Sixth Annual Safety Kick-Off Meeting on Jan. 16, providing a group of more than 350 employees, subcontractors and other partners with an in-depth look at the company’s safety goals and initiatives for 2013. The company announced its primary goal is to have zero injuries at its jobs sites across the nation this year.

Hosted at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino, the event also served to recognize PENTA’s employees and partners for maintaining a steadfast dedication to safety throughout 2012. The Las Vegas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and the Nevada Contractors Association named PENTA the area’s safest general contractor of 2012.

In addition to conducting weekly safety meetings, PENTA’s executive management team announced the company plans to promote safety throughout 2013 by shutting down job sites for an hour each quarter to discuss safety issues.

“We will simultaneously shut down each and every one of our job sites across the country and provide employees and partners with additional opportunities to provide feedback and voice their concerns,” said PENTA Corporate Safety Director Rodd Weber. “Our dedicated employees and partners deserve nothing short of the safest possible work environments. With this goal driving our company, PENTA will continue to develop new and innovative ways to promote safety within the construction industry.”

With safety serving as the top priority for the company, PENTA also requires each of its field employees to complete 30 hours of OSHA safety training, a requirement that will continue in 2013 and beyond.

The Jan. 16 Safety Kick-Off Meeting also featured a special video presentation from motivational safety speaker Charlie Morecraft, a former oil refinery worker who suffered burns over 50 percent of his body after failing to follow safety procedures. Morecraft congratulated PENTA for being named the safest contractor of 2012 and encouraged attendees to make safety their No. 1 priority.
