After five straight years in the country’s dubious No. 1 spot, Nevada’s foreclosure rate finally dipped in 2012 — to second-worst.
One in every 37 housing units received a foreclosure-related filing last year in Nevada, down almost 57 percent from 2011, according to a report out Wednesday from RealtyTrac.
The Silver State was second to Florida, where one in every 32 homes received a foreclosure filing in 2012. North Dakota ranked 50th with one in every 2,668 homes.
Nationally, one in every 72 homes got a foreclosure filing last year, down 2.7 percent from 2011.
Foreclosure activity jumped in 25 states last year and fell in the others, RealtyTrac said.
