Tag, you’re it: British Airways now offering self-service bag tagging

British Airways has become the third airline at McCarran International Airport to offer passengers self-service bag tagging for its international flights through London.

“Many of our customers already check in online and print their boarding pass at home, and this new self-service feature can help make their travel experience even smoother,” said Doug Caines, British Airways’ vice president of customer service and operations business development.

Passengers can print bag tags at kiosks at British Airways’ Terminal 3 check-in counters. The airline began offering the service last week.

The technology is designed to improve the speed and simplicity of departures. Once tags are printed and attached to bags, luggage is left at a drop desk. The process is expected to reduce concourse congestion during busy travel periods.

Customer service representatives will continue to assist passengers at the counter.

British Airways has 10 flights a week to London with daily service to Heathrow International Airport and three-times-weekly service to Gatwick International.

The airline joins Air Canada and WestJet as the only carriers at McCarran to offer self-service bag tagging. Those carriers began offering the service when Terminal 3 opened in June last year.

There are no domestic carriers that offer the service.
