Terri Conway is chief culture officer at Goodwill of Southern Nevada. In the newly created position, Conway will oversee human resources systems that affect the culture of the organization, such as performance management, organizational development, training, performance management, benefits and compensation.

Humberto Trueba Jr. is vice president and general manager of Eastside Cannery. Trueba will be responsible for operations and management. Trueba was general manager and chief operating officer at Club Fortune.

Jennifer Carleton joined the board of directors of the Public Education Foundation. Carleton, a shareholder of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, will collaborate with principals, teachers, administrators, businesses, community organizations and local residents to develop and institute school improvement strategies, create model programs, leverage resources, award grants and scholarships.

Local real estate professional Tedd Rosenstein is Commercial Alliance Las Vegas Member of the Year for 2014. CALV honored Rosenstein for his years of volunteer work.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson joined 22 prosecutors representing major jurisdictions throughout the United States to announce Prosecutors Against Gun Violence, an independent, nonpartisan coalition organized to promote solutions to the national public health and safety crisis of gun violence.

Venue Las Vegas has broken ground downtown. Set to open in February 2015, It will feature 36,000 square feet of event and meeting space, a rooftop patio and six indoor and outdoor event spaces. Founded by owner Victor Perrillo, Venue Las Vegas will bring 200 jobs to the area.

Ascaya is accepting reservations. Nestled atop the McCullough Range in Henderson, Ascaya includes 313 luxury estate home sites privately held by the Hong Kong-based family of Henry Cheng, a diversified infrastructure, construction and property developer with extensive projects in Asia, Europe and North and South America.

VEGAS.com redesigned its website, which helps people book plane tickets, hotel rooms and show tickets. The company also updated its logo to an orange “V” enveloping a downward-pointing arrow, atop the tagline “Vegas from the inside.” Brian Greenspun, owner and publisher of The Sunday and VEGAS INC, is a co-owner of VEGAS.com.

Rí Rá Las Vegas in the Shoppes at Mandalay Place, will host more than two weeks of nonstop live music in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record. There will be at most a 25-second break between songs and a five-minute break between sets. Guided by Irish musician Dave Browne, the marathon concert will feature a variety of musical styles.

Belinda Maguire opened Destination Fabulous, a destination management company. Maguire began her DMC career working for USA Hosts as national sales manager in the Scottsdale/Phoenix market.

Dr. Kimothy Smith is senior director and Brian Speicher is business development lead at Desert Research Institute to advance the institute’s work within the Applied Innovation Center for Advanced Analytics. Smith comes to DRI with nearly 30 years of professional experience in biosurveillance, bioforensics, biodefense, biosecurity, molecular genetics and diagnostics, and food safety, defense and security. Speicher, a native Nevadan, comes to DRI from the private sector where he engaged in research and development, corporate development and business development.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman declared Sept. 18 “Tower of Jewels Day” in recognition of the jewelry store with the same name. Led by Jack Weinstein, Tower of Jewels launched in 1964.

The Las Vegas Legends soccer team signed Doug Borgel as head coach. Borgel is a 30-year resident of Las Vegas and the head men’s and women’s soccer coach for Bishop Gorman High School.
