      Marek Bute and Justin Carley were elected partners at Snell & Wilmer. Bute’s practice is concentrated in business and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on contract disputes and claims relating to construction, lien law, arts and entertainment and hospitality. Carley’s is concentrated in commercial litigation with an emphasis on contract disputes typically related to real property, entity control, business conflicts and a variety of other topics. Also, Bradley Austin, Jennifer Luiña, Morgan Petrelli and Justin Shiroff are associates at Snell & Wilmer. Austin’s practice is concentrated in commercial litigation, Luiña’s in business and finance, Petrelli’s in product liability and commercial litigation and Shiroff’s in business and commercial litigation. Additionally, Snell & Wilmer attorney Leon Mead II was appointed to the Nevada Lawyer editorial board of the State Bar of Nevada.

      Kristen Gallagher and Amanda Yen were elected partners at McDonald Carano Wilson. Gallagher joined the firm in 2005 after graduating magna cum laude from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law. Her primary practice area is in commercial litigation. Yen, also a magna cum laude graduate of Boyd, has been with the firm since 2006. She practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, appellate law and employment law.

      Dr. Mark Penn is the founding dean of Roseman University’s allopathic College of Medicine. He will also serve as chancellor of the Summerlin campus, which houses Roseman’s medical research programs. He joined Roseman in July 2012 as chancellor of the university’s South Jordan, Utah, campus and special assistant to the president for program planning.

      Lena Lloyd was promoted to financial services representative at Clark County Credit Union. Lloyd will handle consumer loan counseling, new accounts, extended repair coverage and debt cancellation coverage. She has been with the company for a year and a half.

    • Peggy Scinta, of P. Scinta Designs, earned the 2013 Design of the Year award at the Las Vegas Design Center. She won for remodeling an outdated home turned bachelor pad.

      Chuck Joseph

      Chuck Joseph is operations manager and senior project manager at Stanley Consultants. Joseph handles the operations of the Las Vegas office, including management of projects, client service, business development and quality assurance. He has nearly 30 years of structural/civil engineering experience. Nearly 18 of those years have been in the Las Vegas transportation area.

    • Terence Farr, senior appraiser at CBRE Valuation and Advisory Group, was awarded the Appraisal Institute’s MAI designation, which recognizes his experience in valuing commercial, industrial, retail, land and other asset classes.

    • Thomas Stimmel is vice president of operations at Cobalt Data Centers. He has more than 10 years of data center experience and previously worked at CoreLink Data Centers as vice president of operations.

    • The Nevada Association of Realtors named Patty Kelley of Kelley & Associates its 2013 Nevada Realtor of the Year and recognized several other local executives with awards. Kelley was NVAR’s 2013 president. She is also a past president of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. Myrna Kingham of Vegas Group Realty received the Joe Nolan Award recognizing spirit, passion and professionalism in serving fellow Realtors. Kolleen Kelley of Elite Realty received the Realtor Achievement Award for outstanding service to local and state associations.

    • The Desert Research Institute Foundation has named its trustees: Michael Benjamin, principal, Benjamin Enterprises; Charles Creigh Jr., president, NewMarket Advisors; Theodore Dake, senior vice president, U.S. Trust-Bank of America Private Wealth Management; Thomas Gallagher, investor and entrepreneur; Ian Rogoff, co-founder and general partner, Sierra Nevada Partners; and Missy Young, executive vice president of co-location, Switch.

    • The Best of Silver State Restaurants and Lounges Awards recently named its honorees. Kerry Simon received the Visionary Award, Sirio Maccioni the Pioneer Award, Emeril Lagasse the Leadership Award and Alex Stokes the Industry Champion Award.     • City of Las Vegas employee Marco Velotta received the 2013 Individual Award for Organizational Excellence at the U.S. Green Building Council Nevada Green Gala. The award recognizes ongoing contributions to the city and community, advocating for healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. Velotta works on the city’s Sustainability Initiative. Desert Research Institute’s GreenPower Program was recognized for its commitment to sustainable environmental education.

    • Sharon Jackson is ombudsman for the state’s Common Interest Communities and Condominium Hotels program. Jackson helps homeowners and homeowners associations better understand their rights and obligations. Jackson has more than 20 years of experience in mediation, administration, human resource management, consumer outreach and education working.

    • Jalisco Cantina, a 24-hour Mexican restaurant, opened locations at 3460 E. Sunset Road, and 6450 S. Durango Drive, Las Vegas.

    • Dr. Bohdan “Bo” Chopko joined the St. Rose|Stanford Clinics as a board certified neurosurgeon and neurointerventionalist. Chopko comes to Las Vegas from Mansfield, Ohio, where he worked at Mid-Ohio Neurosurgical Care. He is also on the faculty of Stanford’s department of neurosurgery.

    • Russ Langer, the UNLV football and Las Vegas 51s play-by-play voice, was named the 2013 Nevada Sportscaster of the Year for the seventh straight year and the ninth time in the past 11 years.

    • Janine Marano has joined Exit Realty Platinum Group in Las Vegas. She will handle short sales, REOs, foreclosures, HUD homes, commercial real estate, property management and multifamily properties.

    • Bill Bokelmann is a sales associate for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Prior to co-founding Maxx Promotions in 2008, he worked at Loomis Armored Transport U.S. in Las Vegas. He also worked for many years in marketing and operations management positions at Mobil Oil Corp. and at Jack in the Box.

    • Esteban Duran-Ballan is executive director and Michelle Kelczewski is director of nursing at the Kindred Flamingo Subacute and Transitional Care Center, which focuses on higher acuity skilled nursing care and transitioning patients from hospital to home. He previously was the administrator of five skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Virginia.

    • Gov. Brian Sandoval appointed 18 people as members of the Governor’s Behavioral Health and Wellness Council. The council chairman is Dr. Joel Dvoskin, and vice chairwoman is retired Judge Jackie Glass.
