    • LaWanda Davis

      LaWanda Davis

      LaWanda Davis is assistant general manager for Town Square Las Vegas. She assists with the management of marketing, security, maintenance and housekeeping. Davis, a UNLV graduate, previously was a corporate property manager for a residential apartment developer.

    • Joseph Liebman was promoted to partner at Bailey Kennedy. He practices civil litigation, including contract and real estate disputes, product liability defense, professional liability defense and health care litigation. He had been an associate attorney with Bailey Kennedy since 2008.

      John Wald

      John Wald, principal of Klai Juba Architects, joined the board of trustees for the Las Vegas Business Academy. Its fundraising events benefit financially challenged students pursuing MBA, MHA or JD degrees through the LVBA scholarship program.

    • Al Alvarez is director of mid-market and corporate banking for Bank of the West’s Nevada office. He leads a team of relationship managers and associates who provide lending, cash management and international banking options to mid-sized and large businesses. Alvarez has held senior and executive positions in Nevada banking for more than 30 years.

      Connie Jones

      Connie Jones is director of responsible gaming for the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers. A 20-year veteran of the gaming industry, Jones previously was director of responsible gaming for International Game Technology.

    • Josh Hicks and Andrew Moore are shareholders at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. Hicks is a member of the firm’s government relations department and taxation group, while Moore is with the gaming group.

      Tim Bennett was promoted to project manager for McCarthy Building Companies’ Nevada division. He joined McCarthy in 2007.

    • Jennifer Gaynor, Kevin Hejmanowski and Christopher Walther are shareholders at Lionel Sawyer & Collins. Gaynor is part of the government relations team, Hejmanowski is on the litigation team and Walther is part of the business law team.

      Dr. Terence Agustin joined HealthCare Partners Medical Group, a physician-run group providing primary, specialty and urgent care in Southern Nevada. Agustin, who specializes in internal medicine and geriatric care, sees patients at 2225 N. Civic Center Drive, Suite 280, North Las Vegas.

    • Southwest Medical Associates recognized the performance of its health care providers. Honored were: Dr. Valeria Asimenios, Robert Hulse Sensitivity Award; Rena Rivera, Anne Osborne Sensitivity Award; and Dr. Chang-Hoon Ahn, Family Home Hospice Comfort & Dignity Award. Provider of the Year awards went to: Dr. Samson Otuwa, anesthesiology; Steve Forcier, certified registered nurse anesthetist; John Kvist, nurse practitioner/physician assistant; Laurel Pope, OB/GYN; Dr. Dennis Moore, pediatrics; Dr. Charalee Smith, primary care; Michael Kooyman, specialty; and Dr. Ellen Martin, urgent care.

      Eric Larkin is a partner at NAI Vegas, specializing in office and industrial property brokerage. He was previously a broker for Musser Capital Investments.

    • Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada completed its 3,600-square-foot expansion of its Southern Hills Cancer Treatment and Breast Surgery Center at 9280 W. Sunset Road Suite 100, Las Vegas. Expansion and enhancements include the extension of the lobby and medical oncology infusion room and the addition of five medical oncology exam rooms, two medical oncology scheduling stations, an additional patient benefit office and a new separate exam and procedure room for breast surgeon Dr. Souzan El-Eid.

    • Two UNLV researchers have been named emerging scholars by the magazine Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. William Bauer Jr., associate professor of history, and Julia Sun-Joo Lee, assistant professor of English, were named “emerging scholars under 40.”

    • Ricky Borja is vice president of operations at SGEi, a global consulting group. He is responsible for overseeing hospitality opening and repositioning efforts. Previously, Borja was hotel manager at Canyons Resort in Utah as well as director of hotel operations for Station Casinos.

    • Rita’s Italian Ice opened its newest store at 5415 S. Rainbow Blvd., Suite D. The store is owned and operated by franchisees and local residents Paul and Shelly Weinstein, who employ 20 people at the location.

    • Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak at the Mirage was named one of the 25 Most Important Restaurants of 2013 by Zagat. It was the only Las Vegas restaurant listed.

    • Bradley Richardson joined Fennemore Craig Jones Vargas. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation, professional liability and estate planning and probate law. He previously was a shareholder with Gordon Silver.

    • NAIOP Southern Nevada chapter, a trade organization representing commercial real estate developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate serving the Southern Nevada market, announced its 2014 officers, board of directors, committee chairs and liaisons.
