    Carol Cline-Ong, president and co-founder of the MDL Group, and Jennifer Jones, an educator since 1986, have been named to the board of directors at Spread the Word Nevada.

  • Maribel Garcia and Jennifer Weed have been promoted and Natalie Luvera has been hired at the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. Garcia will be community relations coordinator and will handle publicity and marketing. Weed will be digital media coordinator and will handle social media, website and electronic news marketing efforts, promotions and development databases. Luvera was named volunteer assistant and will process new volunteers who are ready to become troop leaders, as well as coordinate volunteer efforts for special program and membership events.

  • Inpatient Consultants of Nevada, an acute and post-acute hospitalist practice in Las Vegas and Henderson, recently made several hires: Shivanand Bomman, M.D., internal medicine; Roland Pua, M.D., internal medicine and geriatrics; Anoush Tacvorian, D.O., internal medicine; Reza Vaghefi, M.D., internal medicine; Alton Walters, M.D., internal medicine; Milan Zdrnja, M.D., internal medicine; and Margaret Leonard, advanced nurse practitioner.

    Rick Beavin has been hired as market director for senior product operations in Nevada for Humana Inc. He will manage Humana’s Medicare Advantage health plan operations in the state. Humana offers Medicare HMO and PPO health plans, prescription drug plans and Medicare supplement policies to eligible patients in Nevada.

  • The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s All 4 Kids: Healthy, Happy, Active, Fit program received the National Institute Food and Agriculture Partnership Award for mission integration. Anne Lindsay, a specialist in exercise physiology, accepted the award in Washington, D.C. The program, which began in 2007, targets childhood obesity in Nevada by encouraging preschool children and families to practice healthy eating habits and be physically active every day.

  • Carmen Rubino Jr. has been named vice president of hotel operations at JW Marriot Las Vegas Resort and Spa. Rubino, who was the hotel’s director of sales and marketing from 2006 to 2008, has 20 years of experience with Marriott International’s sales and marketing departments. He will oversee both the sales department and resort operations. Rubino was most recently senior director of sales and marketing for the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.

  • Joseph Garin, of the Las Vegas office of Lipson, Neilson, Cole, Seltzer, Garin P.C., was named co-chairman of the Lawyer Professional Liability Committee for the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. The committee helps members learn about issues and trends in the professional liability insurance marketplace. The Claims and Litigation Management Alliance was founded in 2007 and has approximately 20,000 members and fellows.

  • Strategies 360 Senior Vice President Neal Levine will lead a new division, Strategies 360 Initiatives and Referenda. It runs nonpartisan initiative and referendum campaigns across the country. Levine previously was director of government and public affairs at R&R Partners.

  • Janae Melvin was hired as public relations manager at Vox Solid Communications, a Las Vegas public relations and social media agency. Prior to joining the company, Melvin was a public relations specialist for MGM Resorts International. She graduated from Wichita State University with a masters of education degree in sports administration.
