Mercadito offers Mexican cuisine; Chicago hot dog spot arrives without the attitude

A Chicago-based company is toning down its saucy side for Las Vegas eaters.

The Wiener’s Circle, a hot dog stand known for chargrilled foods and R-rated late-night antics, has opened a family-friendly spot at Red Rock Resort.

Red Rock is also saying hello to a new Mexican restaurant as Aria closes a bar.

Meanwhile, a healthy eater’s haven is arriving at the District in Henderson.

    • Mercadito

      Mercadito opens today at Red Rock Resort.

      The Chicago-based Mercadito brand, which operates casual Mexican restaurants, will pair with the Tippling Bros. to provide a drink menu with “on draft” margaritas, sangria and more.

      The food menu will feature tacos and enchiladas as well as Las Vegas-specific items including the Mercadito mac and cheese.

      Mercadito at Red Rock is open from 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Brunch and lunch hours have yet to be announced.

    • The Wiener’s Circle

      Chicago-based hot dog stand the Wiener’s Circle opened this month at Red Rock Resort.

      While the original location is known for its waitresses who verbally abuse customers for fun during late-night meals, the Red Rock eatery will serve chargrilled hot dogs and hamburgers in a family-friendly atmosphere.

      The Wiener’s Circle is also expected to open at Santa Fe Station this summer. The Red Rock location is open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.

    • City Bar, a full-service bar and lounge at Aria.

      City Bar

      City Bar, a full-service bar and lounge at Aria, has closed.

      The location opened in December 2009 with the debut of the hotel.

      A representative of MGM Resorts International said more details would be available in the coming weeks.

    • The Charcoal Room

      The Charcoal Room has opened at Palace Station.

      Occupying 5,300 square feet, the restaurant features a neighborhood steakhouse concept and seating for 133 people.

      Menu items include bone-in pan-seared rib eye and seared Hawaiian ahi tuna.

      The Charcoal Room concept originated at sister property Santa Fe Station. The Palace Station location is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

    • Lyfe Kitchen

      A proponent of the “good food movement,” Lyfe Kitchen is expected to open July 9.

      The 4,000-square-foot restaurant in the District will offer gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options as well as 100 percent grass-fed beef.

      The fast-casual brand emphasizes its efforts to connect with local farmers, and the Henderson location will be its 10th.

    • Conn's

      Retailer Conn's is expected to open its first Nevada location June 28.

      The 50,150-square-foot space will offer home appliances, furniture, office products and electronics.

      Located at 3158 E. Tropicana Ave., Las Vegas, Conn's will be open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
