Openings and closings: More mall shopping, fewer dining options on the Strip
The Galleria at Sunset’s first renovation since opening in 1996 is nearing completion.
At the heart of the $7 million improvement is a new H&M, which will open this month.
The Galleria also welcomed back two former tenants, Bath & Body Works and Express, in new locations.
In addition, family restrooms, free Wi-Fi and a guest services counter were added.
Elsewhere in the valley, two Strip eateries say goodbye.
Here is a look at some of the region's recent openings and closings:
The R Buffet at the Riviera closed Aug. 30.
There is no word on whether it will return or whether a new tenant will move into the space.
The buffet served breakfast and lunch only.
Diego's, a Mexican restaurant at the MGM Grand, will serve its last plates of food Sept. 23.
A new, unnamed restaurant will take its place in 2014.
For the next few weeks, Diego’s is open 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
H&M at the Galleria
The popular retail store will open another location in the valley as part of the Galleria at Sunset’s $7 million renovation.
With two floors of clothing sprawled over 20,000 square feet, the newest H&M will offer plenty of space to browse.
H&M has three stores in Las Vegas. The Galleria location opens Sept. 19.
Express and Express Men
Express and Express Men share a new larger space at the Galleria at Sunset. The stores moved from the second floor to the first floor, by Champs Sporting Goods.
The shop features upgraded fixtures and technology.
It is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Bath & Body Works
Like Express and Express Men, Bath & Body Works at the Galleria at Sunset moved into a space with upgraded accessories and more square footage.
The store is on the second floor, near H&M. It is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
