Chronic Tacos, a popular Mexican food joint out of California, has opened a restaurant at the Palms.
Known for serving gigantic portions of authentic Mexican food crafted from age-old recipes, the new Chronic Tacos is next to Earl of Sandwich and Brenden Theaters in the Palms.
“Chronic means excessive,” said Chronic Tacos CEO Randy Wyner. “It means bold.”
As a way to promote the restaurant, Wyner gave the first 25 people in line to get tacos Friday a punch card allowing them get one free taco a week for a year.
Chicago native Al Boncimino, a heavy machine operator now living in Las Vegas, was one of the first people in line and got a free taco card.
“I live down the block,” Boncimino said. “It’s free food. Couldn’t pass it up.”
The Chronic chain has more than 30 locations on the West Coast.
“Heck yeah,” said Jason “Weeman” Acuna, known for his role on the popular MTV show “Jackass,” who owns a Chronic Tacos in Redondo Beach, Ca. “This is a good thing.”
Based in San Clemente, Calif., Chronic Taco carved out a name for itself as an authentic Mexican restaurant with an assembly-line approach to its made-to-order tacos, burritos and tamales.
The menu — which includes beer and wine — also offers vegetarian items, including tacos made with potatoes instead of meat.
