Book a private jet to Las Vegas in less than a minute

A jet plane waits to take off at the Henderson Executive Airport Monday, Feb.18, 2013.

BlackJet, a company developed by the same owners of the luxury taxi service Uber, has rolled out an iPhone application that allows travelers to book a private jet in 10 clicks.

Introduced in late 2012 and backed by Hollywood A-listers Ashton Kutcher and Jay-Z, BlackJet offers jet service to several major cities including Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palm Beach and New York.

All passengers have to do is pay an annual membership fee of $2,500 for access to seats that cost between $1,500 and $3,500. More miles mean more moolah.

“The BlackJet app is innovative because it allows members to book their seats in under one minute right from their phone,” said Christine Cheatum, a company spokeswoman. “Since launching the app, we’ve seen the majority of members take advantage of this perk of our service.”

BlackJet doesn’t own any jets; it just charters them. That’s why passengers have to book flights at least 24 hours in advance. BlackJet needs time to find other travelers heading to the same place.

Using the app, travelers must choose which cities they want to travel between and what time of day they want to leave. Once BlackJet fills a plane, the company blasts out a text message telling passengers when to be at the airport.

Several perks come with the service. Passengers can preorder food from their favorite restaurants. It will be waiting for them on the plane.

Upon arrival, passengers walk along a red carpet, past the long security lines, and onto the plane, where a flight attendant slaps a complimentary drink in their hands.
