The Liquor Library, a packaged liquor store, opened near the baggage claim of Terminal 1 at McCarran International Airport on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. The store, which offers, beer, wine, spirits and cigars daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., is believed to be the first nonduty-free liquor store at an airport in the country.

A Spanish travel website’s customers have recognized McCarran International Airport for having the best shopping.

In reviews by thousands of customers of eDreams.com, the Las Vegas airport ranked No. 7 in 2012 among the world’s airports for shopping. McCarran did not make the list in 2010 or 2011.

The website offered no commentary about what put McCarran on the map for eDreams customers.

McCarran trailed airports in No. 1 Copenhagen, Denmark; Cologne, Germany; Ponta Delgada, Azores; Munich, Germany; Beirut, Lebanon; and Larnaca, Cyprus, in the shopping category.

It placed ahead of internationally acclaimed Shiphol International in Amsterdam, Narita International in Tokyo and Zurich International in Switzerland.

McCarran and Orlando International Airport were the only American airports to make the top 10 in any of the five categories listed by eDreams. Orlando ranked No. 9 among the top overall airports.

Other category winners: Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, for best overall airport; Changi International Airport in Singapore for best bars and restaurants; and Narita International in Tokyo for best waiting lounges.

The site’s customers ranked Léopold Sédar Senghor Airport in Dakar, Senegal, as the worst overall airport.
