The revamped Nevada Development Authority has taken on a new name and new office to reflect its updated economic diversification mission.
The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, as the NDA now is called, has moved into the InNEVation Center at 6795 Edmond St., Suite 260, into an office provided by Switch Communications.
The LVGEA is one of 11 regional development authorities contracted to work with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development on the state’s diversification plan.
The organization is a coalition of economic development offices from Clark County and Southern Nevada municipalities that work with the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce to attract new businesses and industries to the area. The group also helps existing companies expand through state incentives.
“Las Vegas is a global tourism destination, it is now time we become a global business destination so that we compete better in a global economy for long-term economic sustainability,” President and CEO Tom Skancke said in a statement. “This is the start of a new beginning and part of the great reset of Southern Nevada’s economy.”
Skancke said the organization has achieved two major goals in 100 days — developing a name reflective of its mission and securing a new office. The next step is adding staff to his team to create a global hub for Southern Nevada business connectivity, he said.
Switch, which runs data storage facilities in Southern Nevada, created the inNEVation Center to promote efforts to attract companies to the region. Switch’s president and CEO, Rob Roy, is on the Governor’s Office of Economic Development board.
