South Point partnering with prominent rodeo event family for expansion

The South Point Arena and Equestrian Center will name its expansion project the Priefert Pavilion.

South Point officials this week announced the new name, which follows on the heels of a multi-year partnership with Priefert Manufacturing, a rodeo equipment company.

“South Point takes great pride in housing the premier destination to the equestrian world with our South Point Arena and Equestrian Center,” said Ryan Growney, general manager of the South Point. “The partnership between the Gaughan and Priefert families, two of the most prominent families in the industry, will drive rodeo events to another level."

The 100,000-square-foot expansion will include two climate-controlled arena venues and is scheduled for completion next summer. The Equestrian Center already features 1,200 climate-controlled stalls, an indoor practice arena and 4,600-seat main show arena.

Construction crews broke ground on the new facility in spring 2013 as part of a joint project to expand the arena and equestrian center and build a new bowling tournament facility.
