Discount retailer Big Lots is opening a new store in Henderson this week.
The Columbus, Ohio-based chain already has eight locations in the Las Vegas Valley. Its newest one is scheduled to open Thursday at 350 West Lake Mead Parkway, in the Lake Mead Crossing shopping center near Boulder Highway.
The opening comes after Big Lots spent the past year or so closing two other valley locations, at 230 S. Decatur Blvd. and 3430 E. Tropicana Ave.
The company, with about 1,480 locations nationwide, regularly opens and closes stores around the country. It opened 92 stores and shuttered 39 in 2011, while this year it planned to open 90 and close 45.
