BLACK FRIDAY:

Strip retailers join day-after-Thanksgiving shopping frenzy

For all their glitz and glamour, most of the Strip’s shopping centers will look like any other mall this Black Friday, with lights blazing as most of the city sleeps and crowds clamoring for hot deals on limited merchandise.

Nearly every shopping outlet on Las Vegas Boulevard is planning something special for the Thanksgiving season’s biggest retail day. Only the most high-end outlet — Crystals at CityCenter — is steering clear of the frenzy.

“Luxury retailers don’t typically participate in those types of events,” an MGM Resorts International spokesman said.

Shoppers probably won’t find bargain basement Jimmy Choos or free Versace giveaways this Friday, but they can score deep discounts on plenty of high-end merchandise.

Several vendors at the Forum Shops at Caesars, for example, are opening as early as 7 a.m. Friday. Others are offering special treats to lure customers and keep shoppers happy. Footwear and accessory guru Donald J. Pliner will serve mimosas and sweets, Elie Tahari will provide light bites, and Agent Provocateur, True Religion and Ted Baker London will give away gifts with purchases.

Down the street, Fashion Show mall opens at 6 a.m. with its seven flagship department stores. Shoppers who spend $100 at any of the mall’s stores can turn in their receipts for a $10 gift card.

Antsy customers don’t have to wait for Black Friday to cash in deals at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and several retailers are offering turkey-day deals. The Walking Company will pay sales tax on regularly priced items. French Connection will give a 30 percent discount on merchandise. BCBGMAXAZRIA will feature 30 to 50 percent off sales.

By Friday, nearly every store at the mall will be running a promotion. Urban Outfitters will open at 3 a.m. and is giving customers a 50 percent discount on sales items until 10 a.m. Guess is offering 30 percent off, while True Religion Brand Jeans and Steve Madden will give early shoppers free gifts with purchases.

Even some casinos are getting in on the action. The Hard Rock store is running a buy-one-get-one-free deal on denim, while the resort’s Love Jones lingerie shop is offering an additional 40 percent off sale items. Spa Mio at M Resort is giving away one spa service with the purchase of a second and selling its scrubs and oils for as low as $5.

Many Strip resorts are offering deep discounts on future stays, and Station Casinos is advertising its lowest room rates of the year. Ten Station properties can be booked for as little as $20 a night.
