Toyota parts shortages, delays reported in Las Vegas

Nevadans shouldn't experience delays in the shipment of parts they need to repair their Toyota cars and trucks despite reports of a potential vehicle production slowdown this summer at Toyota's 13 North Americans plants, according to a company spokeswoman.

Yet, phone calls this afternoon to parts departments at Fletcher Jones Toyota and Findlay Toyota found continued delays for a variety of parts.

"Some yes. Some no. It just depends," said a Findlay Toyota employee.

The Wall Street Journal reported today that the auto giant is prepared for delays to its parts supply and its ability to produce vehicles at its nine U.S. plants plus three in Canada and one in Mexico.

Toyota dealers sustained delays in the replacement cycle following the March 11 earthquake in northern Japan, but that was resolved a week later, said Toyota spokeswoman Tania Saldana.
